Oslo: Gamle Akers Parish

"Utsikt fra St. Hanshaugen ca. 1880. Hytten i forgrunnen er en gammel bolig på 'Mærrahaugen'. Her ligger nå menighetshuset. Veien i forgrunnem er Geitmyrsvein, bakenfor går Waldemar Thranes Gate."
"View from St. Hanshaugen c.1880. The group of house in the forground is the dewlling of "Mærrahaugen". Here rests the parish house (of Gamle Akers). Way in the forground is Geitmyrsvein [street], behind it is Waldemar Thranes Gate [street]."

The group of three story buildings on the right hand side is the address of 3 Bjerregaards Gate, where my family lived between c.1905 to c.1930. The open land at the center of the photo was probably where Margit Christiansen's confirmation[?] photo was taken in 1927. Note the fences in this photo compared with the one with Margit. These photos were not from our collection, but were from the book Gamle Akers Kirke.

Are these buildings still standing? If any one knows, or who live in the are, please let me know.....

Unknown Places....

Date: unknown. gaars Pladsen(?), Norway.

"Detter er gaars pladsen taget fra pike werelset, Vert. Nilsen Agnes"
"Looking down from the roof of gaars pladsen from where I stayed, Truly yours. Nilsen Agnes"

It's amazing what actually gets passed down to future generations.... This photo, with the included quotation written on the back, has no known connection with my family nor is there any known connection with Agnes Nilsen. Not exactly the Taj Mahal but at least he had a roof over his head, or did he.....

"Sleggelholmen og Hangsand - Haugen, 1937"
- place names -

These two photographs were taken by someone other than my family, since my immediate family were all living in the United States then. We have no known relatives from this area either.

And now a message from our sadistic lawyers who had bad childhoods......
